My story

The Ivy & Noah story

My Nana Ivy taught me everything I know about sewing. She made a living behind a sewing machine and made countless dress up outfits for me and my big sister growing up. It would've been impossible to launch a business without honouring her somehow.

My son, Noah came along in 2017 and I needed to find something that worked around family life. I’d always been creative and had been making children’s teepees for several years. But I didn’t really believe I could sell them until people started buying them. Sounds weird, right?

In the beginning…

It started gradually at first. I made a teepee for my niece – and then one for Noah – and people who saw them started asking if they could buy one. First it was friends… then friends of friends. Things just seemed to spiral. Before too long I had a steady stream of orders for kids’ teepees coming in.

Sadly Nana Ivy didn't get to meet Noah – or see what was born as a result of her enthusiasm for all things handmade – but I just know she'd be delighted.

As it happens, I don't really make many teepees anymore. Since I launched Ivy & Noah, things have evolved and I now focus on children's decor, sustainable celebrations and seasonal must-haves, like Easter accessories and Christmas stockings.

Thank you

So there you have it – a small business with big meaning – and a name inspired by two of the most important people in my life* – Ivy & Noah – my reason for starting to sew and my reason to keep going, pushing forward every day and making a living from doing what I love.

Thank you to everyone who has made that happen with your orders, repeat orders, shares, likes and support. I really do appreciate every single one of you.

What this means to you

This is all rather lovely, but what exactly does it mean to you, my customer?

It means that behind every string of bunting, every wall banner, every cute little apron... are two questions:

  • Would Nana Ivy approve?

  • Would I make one for my children and their friends?

If I can’t answer YES to both of these questions, then it doesn’t make it into my shop. It’s the Ivy & Noah seal of approval. And it means your order will be just about darn perfect.

Thanks again for visiting. Why not have a browse of the Ivy & Noah shop while you’re here?
